.Pro hits the Highway with 40K GoDaddy Sale!

I'm pretty confident we've seen the largest .pro sale to date.  The GoDaddy 3 letter .pro sale ended last night with some fairly large results for .pro sales. Topping the list was go.pro at 40K, followed up by what appears to be an over 18K sale for xxx.pro 

Jobs.pro, buy.pro, Pet.pro along with Toy.pro and Wee.Pro all sold last night in a somewhat heated auction to close out a surprising day on .pro in general.  Afilias announced yesterday that they are buying the .pro registry and this could mean more publicity for the extension which had many regular .pro buyers already excited going into the auction which most likely translated into slightly higher sales prices.

The current CEO, that appears to be doing an excellent job for the registry is staying on according to the press release along with this statement concerning the future of .Pro! Jiwani said, "I am excited that the .PRO domain will soon be able to take advantage of Afilias' market-leading registry services platform to give .PRO customers the best possible service. In the meantime, we'll be operating on a business-as-usual basis until the migration plan is complete.

Overall, it sounds like hostway, the former registry owner has decided to focus on their core business and has left the pro registry in the hands of a recognized leader in the business of running a tld. According to their website Affilias currently runs such well known brands as .INFO, .ORG, .AERO, .MOBI, .ASIA, .XXX and now .PRO!

Again, its been a big week for .pro news and we certainly want to mention the posting at the onset of the .pro auction on thedomains.com as it was earlier this week where they posted a blog announcing the .pro goDaddy auction in which truly there was no active advertising campaign for outside of basically word of mouth. I think this got some people talking as you can see by reading more at this domain blog here.

We'll keep you posted as we get more solid number reported back from the .pro auction, but again there are a ton of good .pro domains out there and I encourage you to take advantage of the facts pro registry services as our annual renewals price has to be one of the best ones out there.
